For international competition field, the length of the Soccer field is 100~110m , the width is 64~75m , and there should be no obstacle at least 5m outside the bottom line and the side line to ensure the safety of the athletes.

For World Cup finals, the length is 105m, the width is 68m.

For standard football field, the length of football ground is 90-120m, the width is 45-90m.

Pole height and replacement

The height may cause flickering. Flicker-free lights are usually better and more expensive. You need according to your pole height to figure out how you increase the wattage or number of lights. The higher the pole, the more wattage or number of lights you need.

How many powers are needed?

The quality of football field lighting depends on the lighting level, lighting uniformity and the degree of glare control. For athletes, the lighting level required by lux is relatively low. The purpose of spectators is to watch the game. As the viewing distance increases, the lighting requirements also increase. The degree of glare depends on the density, projection direction, number of lights, viewing position during the game, ambient brightness, etc. In fact, the number of lights is related to the number of viewers. Relatively speaking, the training ground only needs to follow simple lighting equipment, and large stadiums need to install more lamps to achieve high illuminance and low glare by controlling the beam.

Deciding the lux you will need for the football field. If your field is for some recreational practice, 200lux is enough. A general football field is 105*68=7140 square meters.

Then, calculating the lumens your court will need. 7140*200=1,428,000 lumens.

Also, you should take the hanging heights into the consideration. After a rough estimate, we suppose that the lumens you may need in the end is about 3,000,000lumens.

The relationship between lux and lumen:

One lux (1 lux) is defined as being equivalent to one lumen spread over an area of one square metre. To put it another way:

A specification in lux tells you how many Lumens (total light output) you need given the measured area you are trying to illuminate.

So 1,000 lumens, concentrated into an area of one square metre, lights up that square metre with an illuminance level of 1000 lux. The same 1,000 Lumens, spread out over ten square metres, produces an illuminance level of only 100 Lux.

Lighting larger areas to the same necessary lux levels will requires a larger measured level of lumens – this is usually achieved by increasing the number of light fixtures (and hence the power consumed).
